Pfaffenheim Riesling 2010

Pfaffenheim Riesling 750ml 2010
Sku: 34775

Riesling is Alsace’s flagship grape – the most aristocratic and the finest of all that the region produces. It actually originated in the area around Orleans but was brought to the Rhine area in the 15th century. Alsace Riesling is different from its German cousin and has nothing in common with the myriad Rieslings that are popping up today all over the world. This high-yielding, late-ripening variety is a steady producer. The ability to continue ripening in relatively cold temperatures is typical of this variety. When grown in prime conditions and harvested relatively late, it gives dry, fine, elegant wines with lively acidity, a fine bouquet and delicious fruitiness.

Tasting notes
Riesling is especially successful with fine fish, simply grilled or in sauce. Best drunk young, this is a fruity, crisp wine that combines finesse, breeding, character and elegance. Its has remarkable freshness and herby undertones. Six or seven years ageing in cellar will turn it into an amazing nectar tinged with hints of undergrowth and Provence herbs… a truly original wine.
