Cellar del Roure was createcd in 1995 as a family estate by Pablo Calatayud. Based in the village of Moixent, the property is committed to nurturing and championing the wines and indigenous varietals of the region, most notably the Manado grape. The estate owns three different blows of vines on the northern slope of the Serra Grossa at 550 meters above sea level.
Utiel-Requena lies on a warm, arid plateau at an average of 700 meters above sea level. Mustiguillo owns four distinct parcels scattered throughout the zone including two over 800 meters. Soil structure is quite poor, with low amounts of organic material. Gravel, some caly, and smaller amoutns of limstone make up the bulk of the vineyards. Rainfall is lower than the Spanish average and this shortqage is thought to contribute to the excellent fruit concentration of these vines.
