Sawbuck Chardonnay 2011

Sawbuck Chardonnay 750ml 2011
Sku: 1808575

3 day lead-time required to confirm availability Why?

When owners John and Lane Giguiere started their first winery in 1983 they were young and enthusiastic with dreams much bigger than their bank account. The first years were financed by credit cards and hope. The name of the winery is a fond tongue in cheek reference to the feeling that they were down to their last “sawbuck” before R.H. Phillips and Toasted Head became successful wine brands. Sawbuck wines are made from grapes grown in the northern edge of the California wine country: Mendocino and Yolo Counties. These unique growing regions particularly appealed to John and Lane for their quality to price ratio. Of course, these regions have long since been “discovered,” but the original intention behind Sawbuck remains as true as ever – to produce approachable wines of place.

Tasting notes
Tropical fruit and melon aromas and flavors intermingle with hints of butterscotch, baked apple and buttered cinnamon toast. The finish features undertones of minerality and lemon zest.

Technical notes
Chardonnay clones 17, Robert Young and Wente, grown in the Matchbook and JK Vineyards were blended, barrel fermented (67%) with battonage and aged for ten months.
