The 2012 Foloi is an unoaked blend of 90% Roditis and the rest Viognier, revisited for a checkup. It clocks in at 12.5% alcohol. Like its 2012 Kallisto sibling, this wine is in fine shape. If it is not quite as big and fat as the Kallisto, it certainly shows lurking power, depth and a nice finish. This is a concentrated Roditis. As it airs out, it revives, too, becoming a bit fresher and livelier. If this does not show quite as much freshness and future potential as the Kallisto, it is doing well now and should continue to drink well for another couple of years, at least. Let-s take that in stages. Drink now-2016

The 2012 Foloi from the Peloponnese (the prior appellation of Pisatis is not appropriate given the addition of some Viognier) is 90% Roditis, the rest Viognier. It clocks in at just 12.5%. It has become a fine example of one of those typically charming, fresh, clean Greek summer whites that have won so many fans for the category. This is a wine on the lighter side – Roditis generally isn’t going to make thick, powerhouse wines. It has an elegant, sunny feel, yet an hour later it was still drinking well and if anything it had fleshed out a bit and gotten better. Quite tasty, it is easy to drink, crisp and pleasing, likely to be a sure-fire hit this summer. Drink it young and at its freshest for best results – fresh and lively is what it does best at peak – and you might enjoy it even more than the score would suggest. There were 50,000 bottles produced. Drink now-2014
